Now when it comes to these sets I'm both happy and torn. I myself just last year got Halloween 2 & 3 and 4 & 5 in two different sets for $5 each. Some places still sell 4 & 5 by themselves, the exact same DVD mind you, for almost double if not more. So when it comes to that, I love Wal*Mart for these low prices that enabled me to complete my Halloween collection, or in the case with some movie whole trilogies or movie with a full four total films, completing the set for $5 to $10!
But on the other side of that, I've seen movies I've paid full price for at the time of their release that now comes with other movies (sometimes up to three other movies) for half or less of what I paid for just that movie. I'll admit that at times I can be a moron when it comes to buying a movie when it's released. I've bought each SAW film (usually on the day of it's release) for full price, just so I can watch it and bitch about it later on here. Which btw, they do have several SAW double feature packs at your local Wal*Mart right this moment!
So the point of this blog being, if you wasn't an impulsive buyer who has already spent $20 or more for a new DVD last year, there's a good chance you can find that movie you wanted at Wal*Mart right this moment for even less than you'd think, and it comes along with even more than you might think! So happy shopping!
Must admit Chuck, I've become slightly addicted to Walmart bargain horror packs. They recently had a SAW I to V pack for $20, a super sweet Hammer/ Christopher Lee Dracula 4 pack (including Dracula A.D. 1972), as well as a quick fix for my action move side in all 4 Dirty Harry movies for under $10. What's NOT to like about such a sweet deal. Walmart's my store....
ReplyDeleteYeah, they do have siome great deals, and there are a ton of good movies that are stand alone and just five buck, like the Coming to America special edition that I just picked up.
ReplyDeleteI also saw that they had all four of the Final Destination movies in one of those four pack for something like $10 bucks, which is crazy with The Final Destination being still somewhat newer.
Bad thing about the bargain packs is that the movies usually don't have any special features at all. For some films, this really doesn't matter but for classics like Halloween and such, I prefer to get the best edition DVD for each film. And my DVD store usually has awesome used bargain prices and deals so I can still get them for cheap.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that is a bit of an issue for me too and the reason I haven't indulged as much as I would like. It works great for a fan on a budget, but some stuff begs to have good special features included.
ReplyDeleteHahaha I always go to wal*mart for my dvd shopping needs. I got the 4 pack movie combo that came with Pumpkinhead 2 and wishmaster 1,2,3 It's an awesome deal and I'm addicted.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame, because I get major anxiety upon entering any walmart because it is so horrible on so many levels. But I have to go because it's cheap and there's horror to be had.
