If there was one thing I loved about the 80's, it was the fact that toy companies didn't let graphic violence and language get in the way of making money off the kids! And don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on it, because I was right there in line buying this stuff.
In 1982 (before I was born for the record) a little flick known simply as, First Blood, came out. A film based off a book of the same name which gave life to a character named Rambo, John Rambo. Now iconic and played by the also iconic, Sylvester Stallone, First Blood was a very adult and bloody tale of a vet and his trouble fitting into the "normal" world. It was such a hit it spawned a sequel in 1985 called Rambo: First Blood Part II. By now everyone loved Rambo and the sequel wasn't the only thing spawned, it also brought us a NES Game (one I have trouble getting off the base when playing), Kid's Halloween Costumes, and none other than a cartoon called, Rambo and the Force of Freedom.
But more importantly in 1985 and 1986 it all brought us action figures of the same name based off said cartoon! And let me tell you my friends, I had mostly all of these figures made by Coleco, including the kids "Rambo" knife and necklace you could buy that came with the ever so stylish red headband...Yeah, I know, I was awesome.
I mean just look? Wasn't these things kinda bad ass??....*sigh* I miss the 80's.
